SHPA secured a $3.6 million
supportive housing services budget line item
in the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) budget.

In FY 2004, SHPA gained a $1.75
million increase in these funds for new projects.

In FY 2005, SHPA secured $2.7 million
in new funds for supportive housing services for projects opening in FY
2005.

For FY 2006, SHPA secured $1.7 million in new funds for supportive housing projects opening in FY 2006.

For FY 2007, SHPA secured $4.2 million in new funds for supportive housing projects opening in FY 2007.

For FY 2008, SHPA secured $3.9 million in new funds for supportive housing projects opening in FY 2008.

SHPA has won a total of $17.74
million in state service funding for supportive housing, providing
services in over 4,414 supportive housing units to 7,400 men, women, and
children.

For FY 2009, SHPA is advocating
for a $4 million increase in funding for services in supportive
housing opening in FY 2009, serving over 1,000 men, women, and children
across the state.

Since
going statewide in June 2000, SHPA has increased its membership by
over 700 percent. SHPA has 96 members, with 46 member
organizations from Chicago and the metropolitan area and 50 member
organizations spread throughout the state from Rockford to Marion.
Patricia Abrams, Executive Director of the Renaissance Collaborative is
the President of SHPA's Board of Directors, and Janet Hasz is SHPA's
Executive Director.

SHPA Through the Mid America
Institute on Poverty of Heartland Alliance, SHPA is working on the
cost-effectiveness Study of Supportive Housing in Illinois, comparing
the cost and type of services accessed by 476 supportive housing
residents in 11 counties, two years before they enter supportive housing
and two years after living in supportive housing. Study reports
